About My Career I am looking forward to a great year in the Beacon Learning Community!
I attended Bloomsburg University and earned a dual Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education. I stayed there for an extra year and earned my Master's Degree in Reading. I moved to NC in 2006, where I started my teaching career at Steele Creek Elementary. I taught reading to grades 3-5, and taught fourth and first grades. I began working at Berewick in 2009, when the building opened. At that time, I taught first grade and earned my National Board Certification. In 2011, I became the Literacy Facilitator for Berewick. In 2014, I earned an administrative degree at Winthrop University, through the Leaders for Tomorrow program. I have also worked as adjunct faculty for Winthrop University. . |
My Family |
I am from Pennsylvania, where I lived from the age of 6 - 18. My parents still live there and I love to visit PA and many of my friends! My newer home is Charlotte, and I have fallen in love with the city. I met my husband Malcolm, who is a Charlotte native, and we plan to stay here. Last year, we had a son named Shields. He is the sunshine in our lives and we are thrilled to be parents! We have a dog, Tucker, and two cats, Felix and Feona. We are excited about our growing family! We love to watch baseball - we are Knights, Pirates, Phillies and Reds fans. We also love football - Go Panthers!
